Free Dr. Pepper?

Posted: November 24th, 2008 under General.

Here I thought that I’d missed it. The free 20oz Dr. Pepper offer (a result of their rather ridiculous marketing claim that they’d give a free one away to everyone in America if GNR’s Chinese Democracy was released in 2008) was supposed to be available yesterday and yesterday only. I had thought it was today and when Milenka told me I thought I’d missed out.

I still might, but then maybe not. Due to technical difficulties, they extended the offer to 6:00pm EST today. That’s the good news. The bad news is that apparently they’re still having difficulties. Their site is virtually (perhaps totally) unreachable. After a number of minutes of loading, the main page finally came up and it had this to say:

We are sorry for any delays you have experienced in securing a coupon for a free Dr Pepper. While we had taken additional steps to meet the expected demand for our offer, the response has been greater than anticipated. To resolve this, we are increasing our server capacity and making a toll-free number available (1-888-DRPEPPER or 1-888-377-3773). In addition, as a result of the technical delays, we are extending the offer and will provide more information shortly.

Thanks for your patience and support.

It’s great that they made a number that you can call. Unfortunately, it’s busy. And the link on the website? It’s been loading for 20 minutes now without success.

Try it for yourself though. Call that number or go to http://www.drpepper.com/freeDrPepper/. Maybe they’ll extend the deadline again.

Update: I did eventually get the coupons and they worked just fine. I only got 4 of them though. And which one was missing? The one that was for me, of course.
