Battlestar Galactica Still Great

I can’t emphasize enough how great I think this show is. It just continues to be great. Before this episode the other day, there were three episodes in a row that didn’t deal too much with the larger arc but instead focused more on certain characters. The most intriguing episode was the last of the three, which focused on the cylons. It gave an interesting perspective and I loved how it focused on the Six that Gaius meets in the very beginning. Best of all, she is haunted buy a Gaius that only she can see just like the real Gaius is haunted by Six.

I didn’t exactly understand something about the second of those three episodes though. Pegasus loses contact with 2 Raptors (or maybe it was one Raptor and the two pilots….) Despite being ordered not to go after them, the Peagus jumps out to the area where they were last seen. They find the pilots dead, and moments later three Cylon basestars jump in. It was a trap, just like everyone except the Pegasus'’ commander thought. What I don’t understand is that if the Cylons can commit three basestars for an offensive, why don’t they just attack the fleet? Sure, they’d just jump right out, but you’d think that kind of firepower could do some damage almost immediately. I guess you could argue at the time that the Cylons didn’t know exactly where the fleet was because of that nebula or whatever they were in. Still, it seems like writing three of them in there was overkill….maybe it’s just me though.

The only bad news about this show is that this week is the season finale. Hopefully, they’ll at least do it like they did last year and start the next season in July.
