One of them was Comcast giving some standard sounding spiel about how great their cable is. There really isn’t anything strange about it, until you consider that Charter provides cable service to the entire city. Perhaps Comcast is available in some adjacent area though….who knows.
Comcast is advertising in a town where people couldn’t sign up with them if they wanted to. Seems like a worthwhile way to spend money. At least it makes me laugh..
Especially when you consider that I saw them doing this same thing once or twice a couple of years ago as well. They must really pay close attention to the impact their advertising has on sales.

I’m all alone. Milenka is gone. I’m sooo bored….
Er. Not exactly.
She did actually leave. She’s gone off with a friend for a day or two or three or something. All I know for sure is that she won’t be back until at least tomorrow. She should have a good time. I certainly hope she does. [...] [...more]

And I’m not exactly bored either. I have various things to do around here, both productive and un-productive. Perhaps more importantly, even though I’m on vacation this week and don’t have to go back to work until next Tuesday, I’m actually working today and tomorrow.
So I guess it was an out and out lie from the start. That’s a bad way to start a post. I should keep that in mind…

Most years, we don’t get a whole lot of snow before Christmas. Most years, we don’t get a whole lot of snow before Christmas. It’s usually cold enough for it by some point in November, but it either doesn’t stay that way or we don’t get the precipitation needed to blanket the ground. Often times, we go into the week before Christmas and wonder if it’s going to finally snow so we’ll have some to complete the whole holiday look.
This year hasn’t been that way. We’ve seen nothing but white on the ground for weeks now. We’ve had high temperatures that don’t go above the 20’s all month. We had about a foot of settled snow on the ground. A white Christmas seemed a sure thing.
But not so much. Suddenly, two days ago, it warmed up. It’s been in the mid to upper 30’s. It even started raining. Some snow remains, but at least half of the ground is visible now. It’s quite ass backwards really… Another funny thing, though, is that the warmer temperatures actually did provide a literal foggy Christmas Eve yesterday..

Serenity is out on DVD now! That’s an awesome turnaround since it was released in theaters on September 30. And surprise, surprise, it’s #1 on Amazon.

I’ve heard no news that a sequel will be coming, (though I haven’t been paying much attention lately) although there were rumors going around of Sci-Fi funding a sequel to be shown there at some point. The original plan was to follow up the first movie with two more if it proved to be a hit. It didn’t really though. They didn’t even make their money back in the theaters. Given the popularity of Firefly on DVD though, they’ll probably more than make up for it on DVD sales. Hopefully it will do so well that we can do something to continue on with the story…

It’s been a good bet for years that the government has been spying on it’s own citizens without even getting warrants since the Patriot Act allows for it, but it’s nice to see Bush confirm that it’s happening.

Of course, not only does he openly admit to the practice, but he’s upset that he’s looking at a situation that won’t allow him to do it any more. The senate failed to renew the Patriot Act, so he’s faced with the possibility of having to ask a judge for permission to do things. Damned constitution…
