Halloween Plan

It seems as though Halloween could be the perfect time to get away with a whole host of things. You could even walk around with real blood all over you and for the most part, no one would question it.

And how many people really check their kid’s candy overly closely for tampering? I don’t know much about poisons, but it seems like one could go so far as injecting something into candy which would leave little to no way of telling it had been tampered with at all. Particularly if one were to do some research in the first place to find someone who lives their life in solitude, it seems as though someone could break into someone’s house, kill them, and then use it as a center to distribute said candy. The perpetrator could even hand it out in person, and remain anonymous while in costume. An easier method, of course, would be to fill a bowl and leave it on the porch. They could then slip out and leave a huge mystery…

I just always thought it could make an interesting law & order or something….
Enjoy your trick or treating… :)

Stephen King’s Dark Tower To Continue As Comic Book

Marvel comics has announced that Stephen King’s Dark Tower series is going to continue with a series of comic books. Apparently this will include more backstory with Roland as a young man. The first issue is due out in April and they’re planning a hardcover release of the first 6 for the holidays next year.

Adoption Attempt #1 Failed

We weren’t chosen. There will be other chances, but it still sucks. It feels like a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” kind of situation now….Any means by which we try to have a baby will likely lead to more hurt, which kind of makes one just want to give up on the whole thing, but then you can’t really “win” if you never try. Bah.

Meeting Went Well

Yesterday we went to meet a birthmother. If she chooses us, we could end up adopting her baby. If this sounds sudden and confusing to anyone here (meaning you don’t frequent Milenka’s site), that’s because I don’t talk about it much here. The gist of our situation is that we’ve been trying to have a baby for something to the tune of 5 years without any appropriate results. Although we’ve looked into adoption before, Milenka’s gastric bypass surgery she had last year left us wondering if it could still be done naturally (and caring for a newborn after major surgery isn’t really the most optimal situation), so we put it on hold for a while. We’ve now turned back to adoption, which is really all quite well as we don’t particularly care if our children are biologically related to us….that’s just not what makes a family.

Anyways….the meeting. I thought it went well. Mind you, by well, I mean we liked the birthmother’s situation and I think she at least didn’t specifically dislike ours. I at least got the impression that she liked us. Of course, this means nothing.

That is to say, we really don’t know exactly what the woman is looking for in prospective parents. Therefore, while I can say that the meeting seemed to go well, I really have no idea if means she’s likely to choose us or not.

Naturally, Milenka is pulling her hair out. (which she technically does anyways seeing as though it kind of comes out as a side effect from the surgery… :P ) She’s been going over various reasons why the birthmother surely won’t choose us. Although all of the theories she’s coming up with are perfectly valid concerns, they’re all speculation. We really don’t know anything at all. Like I said, we don’t know exactly what the birthmother is looking for. There’s really no point in going over reasons for the woman to not like us when we’re just guessing. This is, of course, easier said than done. The unknown is always the greatest fear.

Adoption Suddenly Possible

How ironic is it that just a few days ago I was essentially proclaiming about how I was going to blog regularly again and now it’s Wednesday and I haven’t even posted this week. Whoops…gotta love school…

If I hadn’t careful, I would have missed today as well though. We’ve suddenly been put in the rather odd position of going to meet a birthmother early this afternoon. If we like her and she likes us (and our respective situations), it’s altogether possible we could be adopting her son. It’s an utterly staggering turn of events from say, a week ago, when this was totally off the radar. Milenka is exceptionally nervous, although I think most of the things that she’s nervous about are basically over-reactions to things that aren’t likely to happen and in the end she’ll be fine. It should be an interesting day, for sure.
