Dumb Weather

The weather has been absolutely stupid here lately. From what I gather, a good part of the US is seeing the same type of thing so perhaps you know what I’m talking about.
It’s been hot.
I don’t mean just like hotter, I mean hot. They keep on forecasting temps in the mid 80’s, but on my way to work everyday I see multiple thermometers that say it’s 90+. Throw our humidity on top that (I think it has something to do with being surrounded by lakes on three sides…) and it feels like it’s over 100 degrees. This is about as hot as it gets around here, and the humidity just makes it a miserable situation to be in. Normally, it might be this warm for short stints but we end up having cooler weather mixed in. It’s been this hot now for almost 2 weeks! And on top of that, it’s June. This is more like July or August type of weather.
On the up side, today has been nice and cool. It’s a mere 72 out just now. There’s a catch though. I think that the pouring rain has something to do with it. It’s been pouring, not just raining, but heavily raining mind you, since about 6 this morning. I remember lying awake in bed thinking I’d wait for it to calm down a little before I let the dogs out…..it never did! It didn’t let up at all, for any period of time until about 1:00 or so. Now it’s just plain old raining. I stuck a cup outside before it let up a little and in an hour I had an inch and a half of water. The forecast was for 1 inch total….yeah right.
To add to the fun, the power has been flashing out for a second or two. It’s done it like 10 or 15 times, though we’ve been fine for the last couple of hours at least. It must be the whole city as I was out earlier, waiting to turn at a light, and suddenly I looked up and it was off. Whoops.
I actually like the rain a lot, so this is good in my book (plus we’ve had little rain period in the last month. My lawn that I don’t ever water will appreciate it.) It’s just a little odd for it to pour for 6 hours straight. And of course the cooler temperature is welcome.
Of course it’s not staying. The rain is supposed to quit altogether shortly and then it’s supposed to warm back up into the 80’s. Lucky us.
It’s supposed to legitimately cool down into the 70’s on Wednesday. Maybe that will mark the start of a trend of more normal weather. Of course, the way things are going now, I’m expecting to rain either fire or blood tomorrow. Why not? It’s not forecast or anything, but those guys are never right anyways.
