Systray Actually the Notification Area?

Apparently the systray is actually supposed to be called the notification area. (The author of this blog works for MS)
For anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the area in Windows with the little icons that is on your taskbar between the clock and the buttons that represent the open windows.
As is mentioned in the post, windows 95 had a program called “systray.exe” that, when closed, would kill the “notification area”. I know this is why I started calling it the systray, and I’ve always seen it refereed to as this by others as well. I think it’s a losing battle to try to call it the notification area, but it’s still interesting that this was not the original intent.
