Geek On The Mountain

I actually had yesterday off along with today and the rest of the weekend. I was only suppose to work Monday and Tuesday but I ended up working Wednesday as well. I’d like some more time off, but an extra couple of hundred dollars never hurts either… While I’m on the subject of work I’ll mention the laughable shift premium I get. It was 35 cents an hour. My understanding is that the idea behind the shift premium is to give people an incentive to be on the “off” shifts. No one is sticking around on 2nd or 3rd shift because of 35 cents. They decided to raise it to 40 cents next year. Once again, I don’t understand at all. I’ll take 5 cents (I’m already having thoughts of what I’ll do with my $2+ a week…) and all, but did they just decide that 35 cents wasn’t cutting it but 40 cents should help out? I’m guessing they did it to stay competitive with other places in the area, but it’s still so low it does nothing. If it’s up around $1 then it will start to have an effect.

We finally cleaned the infamous closet that Milenka has been so distressed about. There was so much weight that the brackets that hold the shelves (standard white wire thing…clothes hang off it as well) up gave way in a couple of spots. We gutted the closet and I repaired the shelf and we put things back in there in an organized manner. This also provided a much needed opportunity for Milenka to get rid of clothes that are too big for her now. She had a LOT of clothes. Just to give you some idea…

These are all of the clothes out of the closet and piled on the bed. To be fair, mine are included in there as well. To be unfair, at this point we already had a garbage bad an a half of Milenka’s clothes off to the side and we had previous filled several bags as well.

These are just a bunch of the extra hangars. It always seemed like we were running out before. I’m sure we have enough to cover ever inch of the closet.

There is also about 5 loads of dirty laundry not pictured..

Bea is coming up today and we’re doing another day kind of like Christmas eve with the food and hanging out and such. It should be fun.
