Blogs [not] For Bush

Dec 31

Posted: under Politics.

I’ve noticed a lot of blogs have these banners that say “blogs for bush” or sometimes even “I voted bush”. Not wanting to feel left out, I decided I should give something like that a try. Now I’m Bush fan and I certainly didn’t vote for him, so these banners are definitely out. I voted for Kerry, but I don’t really want an “I voted Kerry” banner either. I mean, I’m no big fan of Kerry. Obviously most other people aren’t either. He even pushed more democrats away from him than Bush did Republicans. Not that I really care though, it’s over, end of discussion. I went with Kerry because he was the best chance of getting rid of Bush. So it’s no so much that I’m pro Kerry than it is that I’m anti Bush. This gave me an idea….

When you want to show the opposite of something, what do you do? You turn it upside down of course! An upside down cross is a symbol of anti-christianity and as another easy example, the upside-down pentagram takes on a similar opposite meaning. (I won’t go into a lot of detail on pentagrams, but what I think many people don’t realize is that a right side up one (the 5th point pointing up) has good connotations.) At any rate, the logical conclusion to draw is that what I’ve created is exactly what I’m looking for! Maybe I’ll add it to the sidebar…. :)

(I also thought about drawing a cross to the right of the text there….it would make total sense when rightside up and be humorous when upside down.. )

Rupert’s Learning To Read

Dec 31

Posted: under Personal.

This is Bea (mother-in-law) trying to teach Rupert how to read using one of those Leapfrog talking book things. I’m really not kidding here, this is what she told me she was doing!

He’s doing quite well actually. He’s currently reading at a 4th grade level.

Vacation?, Infamous Closet Cleaning, et al

Dec 31

Posted: under Personal.

I actually had yesterday off along with today and the rest of the weekend. I was only suppose to work Monday and Tuesday but I ended up working Wednesday as well. I’d like some more time off, but an extra couple of hundred dollars never hurts either… :) While I’m on the subject of work I’ll mention the laughable shift premium I get. It was 35 cents an hour. My understanding is that the idea behind the shift premium is to give people an incentive to be on the “off” shifts. No one is sticking around on 2nd or 3rd shift because of 35 cents. They decided to raise it to 40 cents next year. Once again, I don’t understand at all. I’ll take 5 cents (I’m already having thoughts of what I’ll do with my $2+ a week…) and all, but did they just decide that 35 cents wasn’t cutting it but 40 cents should help out? I’m guessing they did it to stay competitive with other places in the area, but it’s still so low it does nothing. If it’s up around $1 then it will start to have an effect.

We finally cleaned the infamous closet that Milenka has been so distressed about. There was so much weight that the brackets that hold the shelves (standard white wire thing…clothes hang off it as well) up gave way in a couple of spots. We gutted the closet and I repaired the shelf and we put things back in there in an organized manner. This also provided a much needed opportunity for Milenka to get rid of clothes that are too big for her now. She had a LOT of clothes. Just to give you some idea…

These are all of the clothes out of the closet and piled on the bed. To be fair, mine are included in there as well. To be unfair, at this point we already had a garbage bad an a half of Milenka’s clothes off to the side and we had previous filled several bags as well.

These are just a bunch of the extra hangars. It always seemed like we were running out before. I’m sure we have enough to cover ever inch of the closet.

There is also about 5 loads of dirty laundry not pictured.. :)

Bea is coming up today and we’re doing another day kind of like Christmas eve with the food and hanging out and such. It should be fun.

I’ve been working on the site here. You may have noticed a few changes and I’ll be making a few more shortly. Fun of all fun!

Circumcision

Dec 30

Posted: under Rants.

Milenka just had her chance to rant about circumcision and I thought I’d give it a go too.

Why, I just can’t see not doing it. Apparently there’s no difference in hygiene either way you go, so there’s really no argument there. There are a couple of key things to keep in mind though. First of all, son needs to look like daddy. It’s obvious. Now you might say “what the hell difference does it make if you look alike?” and I’ll tell you right now. When the boy is old enough and we go out whoring together, I don’t want there to be any difference there. I mean, I’ve heard horror stories from some of these brothels around town. I just don’t even want to go there.

Secondly, it’s obviously ugly. I mean, when’s the last time you saw an uncut porn star. Really. It’s obvious that society expects it to be done a certain way, and that’s good enough reason for me. Besides, I wouldn’t want to cut the boy out of any job opportunities. It’ll be his choice when he’s old enough and I just don’t want to take that away from him.

You could always try to argue he could just have it done later in life if he wants, but my god, can you imagine someone taking a knife to you down there? I mean really, if it’s done when you’re a baby you’ll remember nothing and besides babies cry all the time anyways and probably won’t notice the pain in any noticeable way.

That said I have no real opinion on the issue :)

Symantec At Least Does Refund

Dec 30

Posted: under Technology.

Last month I posted about my problems with NAV 2005. To sum it up, the program wouldn’t work and when I went looking for support it was difficult to find. When I did find out how to email their real tech support people, they were slow to respond and generally ignored what I had to say. I sent the program back for a refund.

The refund did actually come. They refund what you paid plus the postage to return it to them. It took about 3 or 4 weeks. So despite their other problems, at least they actually do provide refunds.
